Description
The MSC Wiley Lecture Series presents “Playing With Power: The Rise of Strong States and Leaders” — an exploration of how powerful leaders shape politics, policy, and global relations. The program examines how figures who rise through democratic means can undermine the very systems that empowered them, tracing the domestic and international dynamics of autocrats throughout history. Experts will discuss key ideologies and mechanisms: such as interventionism, democratic-peace theory, propaganda, and democratic drift to reveal how democracies can function and fail, as well as the consequences for governance and relations between different types of states.
